A Very Special Birthday Giveaway!!!

Today is a very special day for my family. One year ago today, our little man Beckham was born. To say his arrival was a shock, would be an understatement. My pregnancy was perfect, he was gaining weight, I was eating healthy, and I had no signs of pre term labor. On September 27th 2012, at only 27 weeks pregnant (13 weeks early) I woke up in the middle of the night and knew something was wrong. Beckham was born via C-section at 4:00am weighing just 2 lbs 9 oz. Because of his hectic arrival, he suffered bilateral level 3 brain bleeds on each side. He needed a vent to breath, his valve in his heart was left open, he had a pulmonary hemorrhage in his lungs, and he had an IV infiltration that caused the entire left side of his head to swell. These are just some of the critical conditions he faced during his first few weeks of life. On October 3rd, Beckham's doctor sat us down and told us to say our goodbyes. His brain bleeds were progressing rapidly and he was requiring the highest amount of oxygen possible and was still struggling. I truly believe with all my heart that Beckham is here today because of faith, prayer, and our Savior. Little by little, Beckham got better. His bleeds began to recede, he was able to get off of the vent and on a regular respirator, and little by little he became stronger.

There is not a day that goes by, that I don't look at him and feel overwhelmed with gratitude that hes still here. He is my hero, and always will be. He is a mamas boy, loves to snuggle, he smiles, giggles, says "mama" and "dada", he CRAWLS, and loves to feed himself puffs. He has the sweetest personality, and makes me smile at least 100 times a day! I am amazed by how well he is doing, and how far he has come. This past year has definitely had its ups and downs, but I wouldn't change a thing because it brought him to me. He is a reminder to me every single day, that life is a gift.
