The perfect Summer Maxi Dress with New York and Company

I cannot believe we are officially into summer! It seems like spring just flew by, and I'm not complaining one bit. I cannot wait for lots of beach trips and days by pools with my family. Today at the grocery store I couldn't help but stock up on sidewalk chalk, bubbles, floaties, water guns/ balloons, and sand toys. Summer is here, and we are so ready for longer days and fun in the sun!

This adorable off the shoulder dress from New York and Company is perfect for hot summer days out with my family, when I'm constantly in a swimsuit and need something to cover up. Ive found that red is one of my favorite colors in the summer, and this dress will definitely be on repeat. I love the detailing of the sleeves and the way it flows when I walk. Its classic meets romantic, and you can't go wrong with that. I paired with an oversized hat and this simple straw tote, perfect for any summer outfit.

A Special Fathers Day with Crocs for the whole family

Today I am thrilled to be partnering with Crocs to share how we celebrated this very special Fathers Day this year. This Fathers Day was a little different than others. For the past couple weeks I was in Utah with my family helping out while my nephew was in the ICU.  It was a stressful couple weeks with lots of tears, but it also made me appreciate my family so much more. The whole plane ride home the boys sprawled out trying to get comfortable, while I sat up trying to be the best "pillow" to them as possible. It was completely and utterly worth it though, when we landed and I saw my boys faces light up when they saw their daddy. Boy did we miss him dearly. I don't post about him here often because he likes to stay out of the spotlight, but behind the scenes he is very much involved. Even with his hectic work schedule he still finds the time to take all of my photos, comes home early on nights I have events, and has supported me from day one. Not to mention he is an incredible dad to our two boys. He truly is a diamond in the rough, and I cant imagine a more perfect man for my boys and I. We are very lucky to have him.

This Fathers Day I wanted to do something as a family and treat him to a relaxing day of fun. Our family loves the beach or anything involving water (as long as there are no sharks ;) ) so we decided to have a bbq by the pool on Saturday to celebrate a little early. We had a big bbq with all of our friends planned for Sunday, so I made sure we had one full day of just us together as a family. It was a gorgeous sunny day, and the boys had a blast. Their new crocs were perfect for the occasion, and I must say they all looked pretty darn cute with their matching blue shoes. My husband was pleasantly surprised by how nice and comfortable his new shoes were, and loved the simple design perfect for hot summer days. He was even able to jump in the water with them when the boys threw their matchbox cars in the water (whoops). Now, what are your favorite Fathers Day traditions, and how did you celebrate the dads in your life? Leave me a comment below, I'm always looking for new ideas.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Living Room Sneak Peek featuring High Fashion Home

Today I am so excited to share with you a little sneak peek of our living room with High Fashion Home. I have been working on this space for weeks and weeks, and it is finally starting to come together. Let me tell you, this interior decorating thing is harder than it looks. I've realized that trying to chose individual pieces is the easy part, but making sure they all flow and stick to your theme is a lot harder. There are so many rules when it comes to choosing the right furniture I never thought of. One things for sure though, I am not regretting my choice of a coffee table. My original thought was to get an ottoman, but I didn't want to get leather since that can add weight and darken the room a bit. I pondered the idea of an upholstered ottoman in a light color, but that just gave me a headache thinking about one more thing I had to worry about cleaning. So, I decided a marble table was best and would be easy to clean up if the kids made a mess. I found a few I liked but they were all rectangular shaped with of course sharp edges. My littlest boy has slight CP and doesn't have the greatest balance, so I decided no sharp corners and something oval shaped was best. To my delight, I found this gorgeous marble coffee table from High Fashion Home and immediately fell in love. The quality is great and I love that it complete the room with a light and airy look. I hope you all love it as much as I do.

Hope you all are having a great week!

Note: The metal was a bit darker than I would have liked, but I LOVED the oval design and everything else. (Finding a good looking oval coffee table is harder than one might think) So, I used this paint in champagne gold, and this paint brush to lightly paint over the metal. It took less than 20 minutes, and only one coat. Easiest thing ever, and it made such a huge difference. Use blue masking tape to cover the table so there is not paint transfer onto the marble.

Happy National Donut Day + Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale

In recognition of National Donut Day (or is it doughnut? I never know. haha), I thought id share one of my absolute favorite doughnut recipes with you that is super easy and perfect if you're baking with little ones. This recipe is a family favorite, and my boys and I love dipping them and putting the sprinkles on top. Not to mention, it is heavenly scrumptious and makes my mouth water just writing about it. Oh, and while you're devouring your donut (or maybe you're on your 5th) make sure to check out the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale! There are only a couple days left, and there are still tons of AMAZING deals! Happy Shopping (and eating)! XOXO

Here's what you'll need:
1 Box of Cake Mix (I used triple chocolate cake mix from Betty Crocker)
1 Egg
1/4 Cup of Vegetable Oil
1 Cup of Water

All you do is mix all of these ingredients together, and pour the batter into a large ziplock bag. Cut the tip off one corner of the ziplock, and pipe the batter into a greased doughnut pan. (only fill halfway, too much batter will make them not look like a doughnut anymore)  Bake at 350 degree for 8-10 minutes. Let cool for about 10 minutes on a wire rack before dipping them into the icing.

Now for the icing:

1 cup powdered sugar
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
4 tablespoons almond milk (regular whole milk works just fine too)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Sprinkles (optional)

Mix the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt together until blended. Add in the almond milk and vanilla extract and stir until well combined. Once your doughnuts are cooled, gently dip the tops of the doughnut into the icing and set back on the cooling rack. Top immediately with sprinkles. Enjoy!
